Our Programs
The EDD Memorial Fund offers adaptive sports programs throughout the year to children and adults with developmental and physical disabilities. Our free basketball, baseball, biking, kayaking, soccer, swimming, pickleball, rowing and yoga are currently available in 5 locations in Central New York and Vermont. Our programs are appropriate for school-age children and older; no one ages out of the program. We partner with local colleges and community members to lead our skill clinics, as well as with Otsego Area Rowing in Cooperstown, NY to offer adaptive rowing, the Adaptive Sports Foundation in Windham, NY to offer alpine race training and downhill skiing instruction and with Athelas Therapeutic Riding in Otego, NY to provide horseback riding lessons. Our current locations are Oneonta, Delhi, and Cooperstown, NY; and the greater Burlington area and Castleton, VT. Our program partners include Castleton University, Hartwick College, SUNY Delhi, SUNY Morrisville, Saint Michael’s College and the Oneonta Outlaws, a summer collegiate baseball team.
“Everyone involved centered their attent ion on help ing the children achieve success and confidence.” - parent
Our goal is to teach sports in a fun environment and to inspire participants to want to play sports. We believe that everyone can learn to play by adapting activities to their ability level. Exceptional volunteers are the key to a great program and we try to keep a 1:1 volunteer-to-participant ratio. Our volunteers provide encouragement and work closely with the participants on basic skills like dribbling, shooting baskets or volleying a tennis ball over the net.
"Everyone was super as usual. We always look forward to these clinics."- parent
