Ski Season Wrap-Up

May 1st, 2009, 12:00AM

The EDD Memorial Fund offered three ski programs at Windham Mountain last winter.  We sponsored four trips to Windham Mountain for students with Down syndrome from Pathfinder Village.  Students with disabilities from Oneonta also spent a full day on the slopes, working with volunteers from the Adaptive Sports Foundation.  And as part of our effort to promote competitive skiing for young people with disabilities, we provided scholarships for intermediate skiers to attend a Learn to Race Clinic.

One of the new racers sent a thank you letter to let us know how much he enjoyed his first race.  "At first I did not want to race, I did not think it would be too much fun.  But I was deeply mistaken.  I had quite a fantastic time skiing and racing with the other kids...  I look forward to more racing in the future.  Thank you for the generous scholarship...  I am sure that Eric would be very proud to know that more people are interested in racing."
