Basketball

EDD Memorial Fund adapted basketball programs are designed around the unique needs of each participant. They celebrate ability and give children with disabilities an opportunity to excel.

“The best part of the program was the one-on-one attention my child got.”

Playing basketball

The basketball clinic is led by volunteers from the Hartwick College Men’s Basketball Team and is open to children and young adults with developmenatl and/or physical disabilities.

The clinic combines drills, relays and games to teach basketball basics. After a scrimmage game with volunteers and kids on each team, everyone celebrates with pizza, refreshments and an award ceremony.

Recent Highlights

Our 2009 clinic was a great experience for the 24 students who attended.  They gym was full of energy as the Hartwick players coached students through different drills.  Everyone wanted to practice shooting baskets and there was a large cheering section of family and friends encouraging each student as they practiced.  The highlight of the final scrimmage was when one of the participants manuevered past a Hartwick College defender and dunked the ball.  What a way to end the day!  Click here to see more photos from the clinic.
